Highland Tech Student Receives National Merit Scholarship

Kilian B. Roberts has received the National Merit Carlton College Scholarship July 14th, 2014.

The first private college in the Upper Midwest to have chapters of Phi Beta Kappa and Sigma Xi, Carleton has been committed to
academic excellence since its founding in 1866. The college's 1,000 acre campus is 35 miles south of Minneapolis-St. Paul in
Northfield, where its 1,800 resident students and over 140 full-time faculty are near enough to the city to avoid rural isolation, yet far enough away to enjoy the advantages of small town life in the country.

Kilian put down Mathematics as his probable career field.

Online registration option available for returning ASD students
New online system offers simple and convenient solution for school registration.

The Anchorage School District is offering a new way for parents to register their children for school. Online registration, open July 7 – Aug. 8, is a convenient way for parents to register their children from the comfort of their own home at any time of the day. The district is pleased to offer this customer service option to families who have requested an online method of registration.
Parents will use their existing Zangle ParentConnection accounts for online registration. Zangle ParentConnection is the tool parents already use to monitor their children’s assignments, attendance and grades, as well as pay for school lunches and activities, or apply for the lottery.
Students are eligible if they are returning to their same school, or continuing on to their neighborhood middle or high school. Students who have moved or are new to the district will need to register in person. Incoming kindergarten students also need to register in person at their school.
Schools will still offer in-person registration the first full week of August for these families, along with families who prefer to register at the school or do not have access to a computer.
Parents of middle and high school students can complete the registration online but their students will still need to visit their school Aug. 4-7 to pick up class schedules, get their locker combinations, purchase parking permits and have ID photos taken. Completing the registration process online before going to the school will save time and handwritten paperwork.

Hello Highland Tech Community,

Thank you to the families who took the time to respond to the survey about school start and stop times for the coming school year. I appreciate your feedback.

Please make a note that for the coming school year we will be adding a 1/2 hour to the start of the school day. Our hours will be 7:30a - 2:00p

This start and end times aligns with all the high schools in ASD. It will support students involved in sports, KCC and those who use public transportation at the end of the day.

Thank you again for the feedback on the survey,

Dr. Blackmon

Principal
