After taking these notes we conducted a pH lab in class on Friday. If you missed this lab please see me by the end of the week to schedule a lab make up date.
Here are the notes for today. We’ve been investigating natural vs artificial selection and will finish this standard by identifying three types of natural selection and connecting the dots between the exchange of genetic information and environmental factors.
Remember to watch Sphere for homework. I’d like to hear why breathing helium helped the explorers breathe. I’m still looking for Xenon.
We’ll be looking closer at the 18 most pertinent elements to live on Earth…remember to research those!
Get ready for a closer look at empathy, diversity, and equality. We’ll be investigating social issues that we have all experienced and learning more about the ways we react to our first instincts.
We will start class Monday and Wednesday with our rubric activity. We still need someone to facilitate that. Any takers? For the sake of time and energy, we’ll only be writing the Proficient indicators (unless you’d rather just do Advanced). I’ll wordsmith the others. Mr. Kloepfer will be sending five representatives from his advisory to see how we function as a group. This is a unique opportunity for us to show our Juggernautness to younger students at HTH who are struggling as a group.
See you soon!
Here are the questions assigned to you in class Thursday. We’ll be sharing your answers in class Monday. This is fascinating content. I am blown away that these processes are taking place in every cell of our bodies on a consistent basis.
You should now know how cells reproduce, that they can die, that they respond to their environment, but how do they obtain and use energy?
These NOTES were taken in class on Thursday, October 28. Feel free to email with questions, comments, or concerns!
Go to this link to learn more about the history and potential future of the exciting field of genetics. Start with Finding the Structure (first tab on bottom of page). From this page, follow along the tabs at the top to go through each step of the module.Continue through each of the four modules (Finding the Structure, Copying the Code, Reading the Code, and Controlling the Code). We will stop at each of the modules to ask questions, look for definitions of unknown vocabulary, and discuss topics of interest.
